her sunday shawl

the piece that inspired me most at the vmfa was her sunday shawl by robert henri. it was painted in 1924 yet it still looks like the paint is wet. there's incredible depth in the colors, the deep hues of blue and brown. her eyes are the most captivating and are what drew me to the piece though, they are a piercing blue and the expression on her face makes you wonder what she's thinking about,
